Nanni Moretti’s moving portrait of a New York pharmacy and the Gardini family who have run it, heart and soul, for two generations. In March 2002 the old building where the family has always lived and worked is condemned. Moretti’s film depicts the last day of business, the emotional farewells of the regular customers, clearing out the shop and, finally, the demolition of the building to make way for a skyscraper.
